Passage: Acts 2:14-41
1. Prayer (check)
2. Meditation
It
is the day of the pentecost. The Holy Spirit came upon the disciples and
enabled them to start speaking in other tongues, and the crowd outside is
baffled. Peter goes outside to address the crowd. It had been prophesied by the
prophet Joel that God would “pour out my Spirit on all people.” This Spirit is
for everyone - sons, daughters, young, old, servants, men and women. According
to the Word, when I receive the Holy
Spirit, I will prophesy. “Everyone
who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Peter goes on to explain the
Gospel the the crowd that is gathered, and three thousand were added to their
number that day.
*Promise to
claim: God will pour out His Sprit on me.
*Attitude to
change: Live by the Spirit, no longer by the flesh
*Command to
obey: Repent!
*Example to
follow: Peter proclaiming the Gospel, people responding and repenting immediately
3. Application
For the next
month, I will pray to God every morning to empower me with His Spirit before I
start the day.
4. Memorization
Acts
2:38-39: Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name
of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift
of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who
are far off–for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
