Choosing the right friends is super influential in your life. The reading really made me think about what kind of friends that I have. Being a guy, my friends don't really have a problem with gossip. But the friends that I have need Christ in their life. I want to introduce them to christ so that I don't always have to put up a spiritual guard. I agree with the reading from the next chapter in that we need to have both charisma and charaecter in our lives, and if we contain only charisma and not integrity, or in other words, a phony, then we may be led into deception. I love that that the reading addresses accepting or rejecting words. It really confirms my beliefs in that not what everyone says I have to necessarily believe. God's word overrules everything. Like in the reading, we must develop the humility and openness to be able to receive advice and counsel from another person. We must find covenant relationships in which we can have advice from trusted sources. This brings me back to finding an authority figure that I can trust. Receiving counsel that is healthy for me is one of the most important things that i have to look to. Thinking about the friends that I choose really makes me think if I can find God's counsel in what they offer. Can they give me advice which will drive me close to him? Can we as friends grow close to God together?
