Week 5 | Alex

So far I haven't taken the test, but I did the reading today and listened to the message about serving and God really used it to press my heart. For the reading it was really helpful reading about all the spiritual gifts and seeing examples of their power in scriptures. I grew up in a church that did not talk a whole lot about the supernatural, but coming to college in our ministry on campus we have seen a lot of the supernatural side of God, and over the summer I was on a missions trip in LA where God was very present supernaturally. There were a lot of healings and casting out of demons, and when I think back I can really see what a difference it is when you are in a culture that believes and a culture that has faith. Its so easy for us to be suppressed by our culture today and miss out on a whole aspect of God that could open paths the serve and love him better. When listening to the message it really struck me in regards to creating a culture of servitude. I thought about how true his message was, and that the best way to show jesus is by serving. When he said the true test is how we respond when we are treated like a servant I really identified with that, because it is so hard. But that is why he said it takes a truly great person to be a servant, and I wholeheartedly agree, its hard work.
