Week 2 | Taylor

The reading this week made me view the Bible differently. I have viewed the Bible as different books, all related but still different. This week’s assignment has shown me just how all the books, all the stories in the Bible relate to each other, with Jesus being the key. The Bible is really one book. I have been so used to people throwing out short Bible verses and the Bible being divided into many books, that it was hard for me to think of it as one book. I found what NT Wright said about looking at the Bible through particular lenses of certain verses or chapters. The Bible must be viewed as one book and keep the whole story in mind when we read. I learned that the Bible is truly one book, with Jesus being the center. I knew that the Old Testament hints and foreshadows to Jesus, but I did not know the extent at which it does.

I learned from reading Spiritual Authority just how important recognizing authority is. Nee said that obeying authority is the “greatest demand of the Bible.” Also that Jesus has showed us how to be obedient. Jesus obeyed God even though it meant death for Him. Jesus is the ultimate role model and through Him we can learn how to be obedient.
