I really enjoyed the readings this week. Ill start with the book Spiritual Authority, I loved that it talked about needing direction and that the bible is that direction for us. I guess just the entire concept throughout the chapter of how we can act in obedience to God and how that is really the way to walk like Jesus did. I thought a really great part was when he talked about needing a situation where we are broken into submission and then we can begin to learn obedience.
One thing I had a question about was when he said that the devil laughs when a rebellious person is preaching the word, I think it just brings up a verse, Phillipians 1: 15-18. I guess that has been a question I've had for a while that I don't know about.
I also really liked though how he said we need to be obedient to lead others on a straight path. Another part I found intriguing was the part about it being dangerous to read the bible if you aren't going to apply it. And how with that knowledge we will be judged harder. I compare that to where I have been on my walk when I look back, and to see that I always had different knowledge at different times and that I would have been judged based upon that.
I really liked the bible study methods that Rick Warren talked about and I felt like they were something solid I could print out and have in front of me to have devotional time. And the video we watched I thought was really cool. I have never thought of the bible as one long sweep, where we are looking at it through a window, I think that put it into perspective and makes bible study make more sense to me.
