Week 5 | The Joy of Serving | Chris

Making sure a church develops of culture of servitude is very important to it's health.  Wayne stresses that a church shouldn't program a church to have servants but should embed a culture of serving.  Everyone should serve.  I liked how he gave the example of how he made everyone raise their hand if and made them greeter and ushers for the church.  It's cause everyone can serve without having the title.  and when people come to the church and find that everyone's serving, they really see Jesus and God's presence everywhere.  Jesus was found among people who serve and served himself, "I will be among you as one who serves".

Wayne also describes how the true test of a greater servant is how they respond when they are treated like one.  He gives the example of when he's at an event and he ends up serving coffee even though he wasn't a server.  Even though his job wasn't to be a server, he gladly poured everyone coffee which shows his humble and kind traits as a greater server.  These are very important traits to have as a servant because you aren't always going to be rewarded for your actions.  Being a humble servant is the true sign of a greater servant, and only the great can by servants.
