Week 6 | Spiritual Authority | Chris
In the reading, it says that God looks for heart-obedience, and since whatever is abundant in the heart the mouth will speak. Words are one of the easiest ways to rebel against God. That's why it's important to have a heart that submits to authority and to never speak in rebellious ways. Rejecting Gods authority as well as authority that God delegates is an act of rebellion. The most impactful section of Spiritual authority that really attacked my conscience was the reasoning and thought section. Being a person that relies highly on reason and thought, this reading really convicted me. We can choose to either choose to follow reason or follow authority. It's impossible to live both ways simultaneously. I really feel that my reason takes over my life a lot. I need to really focus in submitting to God's authority and not question it with my reasoning. I guess the tough thing about not listening to reason it that you need to find a balance between common sense and authority. We must stay obedient to God but sometimes we have to stray away from misguided authoritative figures.
