Tithing | Week 12 | Chris

This weeks reading really brought back synonymous principles to the reward trap (I forgot the exact terminology).  In the reward trap, a person would perform good and be faithful in expectancy of rewards.  We discussed in our home group that it was very tough to not expect fruits and rewards from God. Tithing is very similar in this aspect.  God likes tithing because it shows faith.  He wants us to give happily and freely in contrast to giving under obligation and law.  Tithing shouldn't become an obligation, it needs to come from the heart with the best of intentions.  We must look to God for satisfaction and not materialistic things.  It pleases him to know that we value him over all these things and by tithing it shows him that we are faithful.
Finally, Tithing is very necessary for a church to functions and for it to survive.  Tithing is offering that will be spent towards the advancement of the church.
